We are excited to announce the launch of our capital campaign! As we approach our 70th anniversary celebration and gala in Aix-en-Provence, France (save the dates of May 27-31, 2027 more information will be forthcoming), there's no better time to support our esteemed institution! Join us in our mission to raise $4 million to support such initiatives as the President's Fund, student scholarships, new and updated facilities, and enhanced programming. Your gesture, whether large or small, will help ensure the excellence of our programs for future generations of students.

There are three categories of funds to which your donation can be applied towards our capital campaign goal of $4 million:

  • Principal Capital Campaign Funds
  • IAU Legacy Funds
  • Naming Opportunities and Other Funds

Principal Funds

The President's Fund

Donations to the President's Fund are unrestricted and help ACM-IAU cover its essential operating costs, and where deemed most necessary. For example, it can be used to create or enhance initiatives in programming, facilities, or research.

Student Scholarship Fund

ACM-IAU is committed to minimizing the cost barrier for students interested in studying abroad. Student scholarships can be an extremely effective way to make their dreams a reality. Donations to the Student Scholarship Fund can vary in amount and the criteria can match what is near and dear to the donors’ hearts.

IAU Legacy Funds

Board of Trustees Diversity Scholarship

Funds from this scholarship will be used to attract outstanding students from diverse backgrounds who are traditionally underrepresented in international education including LGBTQIA+, first-generation college students, those identifying by a certain race, ethnicity, religion, disability, age, national origin, or ancestry, students from low-income families, and students with a history of overcoming adversity.

Amos Booth French Honors Scholarship

A scholarship fund in honor of Amos Booth, esteemed teacher, director and second President of IAU. This fund provides scholarship support to students enrolled in the French Honors Program.

Herbert Maza Full Year Scholarship

A scholarship in honor of Dr. Herbert Maza, co-founder and first President of IAU, provides scholarship support specifically to full-year students.

Yamina Boudellal Travel Grant

In honor of Yamina Boudellal, for her forty-six years of untiring and devoted service to the students of the Institute for American Universities. Each semester/term, IAU will provide travel grants in Yamina's name to students with financial need.

Donor Bricks in Manning Hall

For a donation of $1,000, a commemorative brick allows alumni, friends, and family members to create a permanent dedication at ACM-IAU. Each brick is engraved with the donor’s name (and class year for alumni) OR the engraving can recognize others who have a tie to ACM-IAU. The bricks are installed in the wall of the courtyard at Manning Hall on the Aix-en-Provence, France campus.

Dr. Stephen K. Mittelstet Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship will serve to support community college students who either enroll in a study abroad program through IAU or who transfer to The American College of the Mediterranean to complete their American BA degree abroad. Established in 2021 in memory of Dr. Stephen K. Mittelstet by his daughters, Mary Amelia Sample and Amanda Claire Stuber, this scholarship furthers their father’s mission to provide a global, diverse, and inclusive education to community college students. Dr. Mittelstet served as President of Richland College of the Dallas County Community College District from 1979-2010.

Allison Benson Memorial Fund

Donations to this fund will go to the Allison Benson Memorial Scholarship for future Kansas State University students studying abroad with IAU. IAU was struck by tragedy on February 7, 2020 when Allison Benson, a student from Kansas State University, died unexpectedly while studying in Aix-en-Provence, France. Allison had been a member of the IAU community from a young age, as her aunt Kirsten Kircher was a student with IAU in the mid-1980’s. Allison had long nourished the dream of studying with IAU, and had set a goal of becoming a French teacher. Allison’s generosity of spirit, coupled with her delight in discovering France and its culture, won her many friends during her short time in Aix-en-Provence. This scholarship in Allison's name will go to deserving students who carry on the legacy of Allison's bright spirit and luminosity.

Other Ways to Support ACM-IAU

Naming Opportunities

Individuals, foundations, and corporations who share ACM-IAU's commitment to its ideals are invited to play a significant role by naming and endowing key spaces in any of ACM-IAU's buildings in Aix-en-Provence, France; Barcelona or Madrid, Spain; or Florence, Italy.

Building Fund

To support ACM-IAU’s robust enrollment growth, expansion of existing facilities and acquisition of new ones across all locations will be essential. The Building Fund enables donors to play a key role in the securing academic, student affairs, and administrative space that in turn supports the students we are dedicated to serve. Naming opportunities are also available for Building Fund gifts that support new facilities.

Endowment Fund

ACM-IAU’s Endowment Fund is fundamental to our ability to plan for the long-term and to manage during turbulent economic and diplomatic times. The Fund provides for a permanent source of income to support our academic programs and provides for future growth while fulfilling ACM-IAU’s need for a predictable income stream.

If you're interested in learning more about these opportunities, please submit the form below and we will get in touch with you.

Other Methods of Giving

Gifts of Stock
Your broker can assist you in making a gift of stock via a direct transfer to ACM-IAU. Giving a gift of publicly traded stock that has increased in value and that you have owned for more than one year may provide greater tax benefits than giving cash. Your charitable income tax deduction is equal to the fair market value of the stock and you avoid paying the capital gains tax on any increase in the current value over the original cost of the stock. You may also save by not incurring brokerage fees because you are transferring ownership rather than selling the stock.
