ACM-IAU College Advisory Board

Fall 2024 Meetings | October 10-16, 2024

Since the late 1950s, our relationships with leaders in international higher education have guided and inspired us. At its core, the CAB is an opportunity for exchange and networking, and the agenda is constructed to encourage dialogue. We have designed this year’s CAB to accommodate new colleagues and long-term partners.  For first-time CAB members, we invite you to learn of our history through the experiences of our faculty, staff, and students. For returning CAB members, we encourage you to deepen your connection to newer academic and student affairs initiatives.

TRAVEL

Aix-en-Provence

Transportation

IF ARRIVING BY TRAIN

There are two train stations in Aix-en-Provence. The city center station is called Aix City Centre (for local journeys) and the Aix-en-Provence TGV station (for domestic and international trips) is located about 20 minutes outside of the city center.

Aix-en-Provence Bus Station (Gare Routière) is located close to the city center and welcomes shuttle buses to and from Marseille Provence International Airport and Aix TGV train station.

If arriving at the TGV Station, you can take bus number 40 direction Aix-en-Provence to get to Aix Gare Routière/city center. If arriving from north of Aix, use the main concourse linked to the southbound platform by a footbridge across the rail tracks (stairs or elevators on both sides). Once there, you should see signs for public transport. Then follow the sign shuttle bus, go down the stairs again to the road under the train station (level -1). The 40 bus departs every 15 minutes.

If you plan to take the fast train (TGV) the same day that you fly into Paris: book a ticket in advance (recommended) departing from the TGV Station at Charles de Gaulle Airport (Terminal 2), you can use this website: https://www.sncf-connect.com/en-en/.

It is recommended that you leave at least 4 hours between your plane arrival time and your train departure time, as there are often long lines with customs, and it can take a while to pick up luggage.

If you do not plan to take the train on the same day you fly into Paris: Your train will depart from the train station Paris Gare de Lyon. Therefore, book your ticket, in advance again, departing from the Paris Gare de Lyon and arriving at the Aix-en-Provence TGV station.

IF ARRIVING BY PLANE

The closest airport to Aix-en-Provence is Marseille Provence Airport (MRS), about a 30-minute bus ride or a 25-minute car ride from Aix-en-Provence. The L040 shuttle bus, direction Aix-en-Provence, will take you directly to the Gare Routière in Aix-en-Provence, or we recommend the taxi services below.
